The link between confidence and success
Whether it is in a career, in sport or in a career, confidence and success often go hand in hand. There are some exceptions to the rule but confidence can help a lot. Confidence will help you believe that you can get to where you want to be and reach your goals whether it is confidence in your own ability, your idea, your business or in your career. People place doubts in their own minds without confidence as they question themselves.
To start with confidence rubs off on other people. As a business owner being confident will help to inspire confidence and hard work in members of staff. One element of confidence is enthusiasm and when people you work with see your enthusiasm and belief in what you are doing, they are more likely work and behave in a similar fashion.
When meeting with people they are able to sense whether you are confident or not and in a lot of situations it is essential that you are. A prospective employer is more likely to employ the person who speaks up, looks them in the eye and confidently explains why they are the person they are looking for. If meeting with investors as a business owner, they aren’t likely to invest in someone who can’t confidently outline there need for investment and what they intend to do with it.
Sportsmen and women are driven to succeed by their confidence in their own ability. A football or a racing driver will probably never reach the heights they want to if they don’t have the confidence to attempt an audacious overhead kick or a daring overtake however this confidence in sports is often wrongly confused for arrogance.
Confidence and success go together in almost all circumstances whether in professional situations or social situations. People like to see confidence and people who are confident can often be found in high paid positions, running their own businesses and with a group of good friends around them all because confidence is an aspirational quality and leads to success.
