Extrasensory Perception – Does Science Lack The Knowledge?
There has always been a vast debate as to whether extrasensory perception (ESP) is actually factual. Still today ESP is misinterpreted by many who don’t understand the concept. What this means is one receives information that is gained through the deep subconscious.
All humans have had an ESP experience some or other time and are really not an unfamiliar practice. We have all used the term such as I have a strong gut feeling, or my sixth sense tell me not to do this etc. The sixth sense is a natural warning “survival” mechanism. And believe it or not every living creature on the planet shares has this ability in one way or another.
Scientists have been trying to pinpoint the source of extrasensory perception even parapsychologists have been doing the ganzfeld experiment trying to provide hard evidence that ESP exists. Again scientists do not accept due to lack of a theory which would explain extrasensory perception as well as the lack of experimental techniques supplying reliable evidence.
Over the many centuries extrasensory perception has been well noted in cultures gone by as well modern day where these people had extraordinary powers or a sixth sense and because they voiced this ESP they were burned or drowned as well as being termed witches. It is still practiced in many indigenous tribal cultures today whereby communication with spirits as well as those that have passed on is very much alive and probably more accepted as the norm.
Much later did scientists as well as many other professionals begin to devise solid techniques such as designing cards that has significant symbols like squares, circles, stars, waves, crosses and circle patterns on then and made up a pack of twenty five cards called Zener Cards?
The professionals selected cards that were very well shuffled and only they knew what the symbols were and in turn asked the person professing to be able to mind read what was on these cards. As well as later even a dice was used to try and obtain the same effect and both methods proved fruitful. When scientists and psychologists could not prove a definite yes or no explanation after extensive trials extrasensory perception was accepted. But research did not stop there; the professionals went onto to investigating how the unconscious mind functions as well as evaluating the human personality so that they would come to some understanding of ESP.
Further studies took place like REM sleep and meditation as well as hypnosis which in later years and more recent years has proved very effective. It was also noted that people that knew that extrasensory perception was factual scored well on the tests given to them as opposed to those sceptics and the two groups were categorized as the believer being sheep and the non believer being goats. This method is still used today.
Parapsychologists have accepted extrasensory perceptions as normal and have also divided ESP phenomena into sub categories like clairvoyant, telekinesis, telepathy and many more. It was also well documented during their studies as well accepted that extrasensory perception cannot be controlled nor can an episode be replicated proving that ESP is a totally natural and spontaneous occurrence.
