Chelation Therapy Can Improve Health

“I came in for chelation treatment to get rid of metals in my body. My memory had been bad for some time now.

As an example, he mentioned he hadn’t been able to remember his yahoo password for months. Upon completing chelation therapy, he went home, sat down in front of his computer and instantly remembered the password.

What Is Chelation?

Chelation (pronounced key-LAY-shun) is a way to remove heavy metals and toxins from the body. It comes from the Greek word “chele” which means “claw.” The process uses chemical bonding agents which use their “claws” to attach to toxins and metals. During World War II researchers discovered they could create a ring of molecules that would attach to heavy metals in the body. They called these chelation agents. There are bodily processes that use chelation, too, such as hemoglobin attaching to iron and delivering oxygen to cells. But in WW II these agents were used to remove lead poisoning from the body. Once the chelating agent is attached to the metal, both are eliminated from the body.

The toxin or metal is not neutralized when the chelating agent pulls it off the cell – it does have to be eliminated from the body. So there is a chance that the unwanted particle could attach to another cell. For that reason, chelation is repeated a few times. The chelating agents used can be several – dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA), dimercaptopropane sulfonate (DMPS), or ethylene diaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA). They are introduced to the bloodstream intravenously. Chelation is a widely known method of removing heavy metals – and is used in mainstream medicine for lead poisoning.

Although mainly used today for removing lead from the body, chelation can help with other medical conditions such as Atherosclerosis (narrowing of the arteries by plaque deposits) and arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) and diabetes. Treatment with chelation improves blood flow. It can remove other mineral deposits, calcium-based plaques and other poisons.

Chelation treatment is done in the doctor’s office. Often the physicians are alternative medicine practitioners seeking treatments that get results without causing harm to the patient.

Although some doctors don’t advertise it, chelation may greatly increase life expectancy. The essential sources of all illness are the small particles of metal, which build up over a lifetime. These metals increase the production of free radicals. As the body is rid of the metals, free radicals also disappear, by a staggering amount, and this slows down aging and makes the patient feel young. Intravenous chelation also lessens the risk of heart disease and cancer.

Removal of toxins from the body by chelation stops toxins being produced in the body. Metals produce a huge amount of free radicals. With the metals gone, untold amounts of free radicals are no longer being created. No wonder memory improved for the patient!
