Grown children often live many miles away from their aging parents. Young people need to go where the jobs are, and these days that often means moving out of state, away from family and friends. Parents often enjoy traveling to visit their grown children who have moved out of state and enjoy busy schedules with their own families and their work.
According to preliminary results of figures released on March 17, 2011 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, people in the United States are living much longer than ever before. The CDC reported that the death rate for the U.S. population for 2009 was 741 deaths per 100,000, which represents a 2.3% decrease from the 2008 rate.
So, you’re doing the best you can to provide for your parent’s or loved one’s health, safety, and emotional needs. You try to help as much as you can, yet they seem unhappy and sometimes unappreciative. So why now are they making so many demands on your time and energy? How do you know if these demands reasonable or not? How can you help them and still preserve your own sanity?
